Why Am I Not Getting Interviews?

Quick thing before we start. You paid for this, so don’t phone it in.

I often say this: when your resume and LinkedIn are done right, it’s like an identity shift. So don’t take this lightly.

This is my diagnostic. I designed it around the way I look at a resume and a LinkedIn profile, and it runs without me, so you can do it whenever you’re ready.

It looks at your resume and your LinkedIn the way a recruiter does. First: can they even FIND you? Then: once they do, do you look interesting enough to call? Most Directors and VPs work hard on the second question and barely touch the first.

Give it 15 to 20 minutes, with your resume and LinkedIn open in front of you. The more care you put in, the sharper your report.

Use a desktop or laptop, not your phone, for a better experience.

Your privacy. Your resume and LinkedIn never leave your computer. They are read right here in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere, so nobody can see your results. Not even me.

Have these ready

  • Your resume / CV, as a PDF. The current version, not the one you were planning to update next week.
  • Your LinkedIn profile, as a PDF. Go to your own profile, click the 3 dots next to your name, then click ‘Download’.
  • The job title you’re going for, the way a recruiter would type it.
  • One job ad you’d love to land. Copy and paste the text.
Step 1 of 3

Your documents and your target

For example: Director of Finance, VP Marketing, Head of Supply Chain.

Paste the full text. I use it to see whether your documents speak the same language as the roles you want.

Go to your own profile, click the 3 dots next to your name, then click ‘Download’.

Step 2 of 3

Check what I read

PDFs can be messy, so take ten seconds to check these. Correct anything I got wrong, then carry on.

Separate them with a semicolon.

Separate them with a comma. Leave empty if you have none showing.
